讲座内容：

The competitive advantage of large multi-product exporters primarily stems from a few“superstar”products, rather than a broad product portfolio. This paper finds that the larger the exporter, the more its success relies on a handful of exceptionally performing core products. This concentrated product structure is pervasive both across firms and within firms over their life cycle. Moreover, when trade costs fall, the heterogeneity in the importance of superstar products across firms becomes even more pronounced. To explain this phenomenon, this paper develops a dynamic general equilibrium multi-product trade model incorporating endogenous decisions on product innovation and riskiness investment. The model’s predictions are consistent with empirical patterns in the data.

薛思帆，2024年起任北京大学国家发展研究院助理教授。2018年获复旦大学经济学院经济学学士学位，2024年获普林斯顿大学经济学博士学位。主要研究方向为国际贸易与宏观经济学。
